• Virus2020, a tunisian artist born in 1989 in Sousse (TN), enthralled by Arab
  and north-African art, instruments, traditions and rituals.
  I am a composer, performer, sound-designer, an avid music lover with
  specific interests in alternative culture and Punk, post-punk, post-rock,
  Bass music, Future-garage, IDM, Ambient, Experimental, Industrial and
  Noise.
  Here published my debut album, "I DON'T KNOW," in December 2021,
  second album, "SECT" in 2022 featuring Frédéric D. Oberland and my third album "KHUSHUE" in February 2023 after various
  live appearances and collaborations with other Tunisian musicians and
  collectives (Cheb Terro, Toxic Club, Sailing Stones, B-Saad)
  

 

• CURRENT RESEARCH

 

• The mezwed, mezwej, matbeg, and yarghoul are traditional musical instruments used in North African and Middle Eastern countries. They are typically played witha range of micro-intervals that allow for the creation of complex melodies.
• *Microtonality :
• These instruments have double reeds, meaning two reeds vibrate simultaneously to produce sound. This characteristic allows for playing smaller intervals than possible with a single-reed instrument, which is important for microtonal music.
• Microtonal music uses smaller intervals than the half-steps used in traditional Western music. These instruments can produce smaller intervals due to their double reed design. Musicians can use this ability to create more complex and nuanced melodies and harmonies.
• *The Magic of Multiphony :
• This double reed feature also provides opportunities to create spectacular LFO and multiphonic effects.
• Finally, the intersection of microtonal and multiphonic makes these instruments unique and very interesting .
• Our aim is to build these musical instruments, study their functionality,experiment with them, and incorporate them into my music.

• We urge for the first take, the first recording, and the improvisation
  because we believe it to be the moment of creativity , emotionally charged
  moment, a time when your mind and body are fully engaged in the instant as
  such.
  "RIG," a trio project of Rami Harrabi, Ismail
  Lassoued and Ghassen Ben Brahim stem from this philosophy where no classifications or
  boundaries stand in between the live performance and the poetic act.
